Eating Fruits and Veggies

Each one of your meals should include a protein source, a fat source and low-carb vegetables.

Constructing your meals in this way will automatically bring your carb intake into the range of 20–50 grams per day.

Protein Sources

  • Meat: Beef, chicken, pork, lamb, etc.
  • Fish and Seafood: Salmon, trout, shrimp, etc.
  • Eggs: Whole eggs with the yolk are best.

The importance of eating plenty of protein cannot be overstated.

This has been shown to boost metabolism by 80 to 100 calories per day.

High-protein diets can also reduce cravings and obsessive thoughts about food by 60%, reduce the desire for late-night snacking by half, and make you so full that you automatically eat 441 fewer calories per day just by adding protein to your diet .

When it comes to losing weight, protein is the best option.

Low-Carb Vegetables

  • Broccoli
  • Cauliflower
  • Spinach
  • Tomatoes
  • Kale
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Cabbage
  • Swiss chard
  • Lettuce
  • Cucumber
  • Etc

Don’t be afraid to load your plate with these low-carb vegetables. You can eat massive amounts of them without going over 20–50 net carbs per day.

A diet based mostly on meat and vegetables contains all the fiber, vitamins and minerals you need to be healthy.

Fat Sources

  • Olive oil
  • Coconut oil
  • Avocado oil
  • Butter

Eat 2–3 meals per day. If you find yourself hungry in the afternoon, add a 4th meal.

Don’t be afraid of eating fat, as trying to do both low-carb AND low-fat at the same time is a recipe for failure. It will make you feel miserable and abandon the plan.

Body Positive: Skin Care Routine/ Products

Hey babes! I thought I’d take today to really talk to you guys about what I use for my skin!

So my secret so having such good skin is I use two products from Sephora as an everyday day and night skin time routine. The first product I use is an AMA Cleanse skin gel. It’s for the face, neck, and around the eyes. It has a blue tag. The benefits are that it tones and cleanses your skin. The ingredients are water, coco-glucoside, glycerin, xanthan, sodium PCA, parfum, citric acid, sodium Benzoate, potassium sorbate, aloe extract, and sodium hydroxide. Usually I use this while I shower right before I get out of the shower because you’re supposed to massage it over wet skin and rinse. The next product I use is a HYA super hydration all day hydrator. You can use this product as a primer but apply this when your skin is dry and all clean. It has a pink tag. There are too many ingredients to list so I’ll insert a picture of the ingredients instead. I recommend these two highly because my skin has looked way since using these two products on a daily 🙂

This is all my own opinion based on my own results.

Is there a true ideal weight?

We all are born differently. We have different traits eyes noses color of skin etc.. So is there really a perfect weight someone should be at? The answer is no. We all have unique bond structures that sometimes make most of our weight. For example, I have a thick bone structure, so most of my body is boney but I do have some muscle on me too. Women going through child birth, our bodies are never the same after giving birth to a child. We can try as hard as we can to slim down but it won’t be like it was before. There are those people who are always on the road for their jobs. For example, truckers who are sitting in a truck most of the time tend to be on the bigger side because they’re not exposed to exercise like other people are daily. Also fast food tends to be more convenient for them. We all can’t help the way we are. For some people it’s easier for them to lose weight than others. We have different life styles when it comes to work and being at home etc.. Some people are more attracted to bigger people than others. Some people like butts over boobs. Some people like a dad bod and others don’t. There is someone made for al of us. So why should we be judged on our weight? It makes us beautiful and unique individuals. Be happy with the way you are. You were made to be special whether it’s in your families eyes or others, it shouldn’t matter as long as you love yourself than that is what the biggest power there is. Some women with bigger boobs have self confidence issues because they don’t like the size of them. I have a friend who she loves her body for the most part but wishes her chest was smaller, she can’t help the way she was born. I think she is blessed to have big boobs! Sometimes I wish I had bigger boobs but I do love my boobs in the end. Who cares what people say or think about our weight, let you do you. With social media these days, we have the influencers who put into our heads that if you don’t look this way then you won’t get likes comments etc. you won’t become popular. We think oh if we look this way then we will get a woman or man but in all reality it’s not true. We shouldn’t conform to outside influences but who do because it’s hard to avoid it. l

Body Positivity: Weight loss Journey

The first picture is me now the one below it is from before. For the longest time I have always struggled with losing weight because of how I’m built my diet etc. For the past month I have been working doing 300 squats, 200, lunges, and 200 donkey kicks to lose weight and gain muscle. I have also been doing 45min to an hour of cardio everyday along with core in between here and there. I have lost 10 pounds! I used to weigh 180 and now I’m at 170! My diet is very strict. I only eat certain amount of calories everyday. I don’t binge or have cheat days till the weekend. I want to be able to take care of my body and my health. Anyone can lose weight. As long as you put your heart and soul and lots of time and effort into it. We can all make a difference in our health. I have always wanted a flat stomach and I have finally achieved that goal! I feel so proud of myself because it wasn’t an easy journey. We all have to motivate ourselves to just do it even if we don’t want to. Find what motivates you. For me I have a great support system. I also have personal goals. With those two things put together I feel as if I can accomplish anything. We all come from different backgrounds and that’s okay. It makes us who we are. Find that inner coach and just go for it. And don’t stop after the first day build that healthy habit. You’re body and health will thank you.

Body Positivity: Home Cooked Meals vs Eating Out

Home cooked meals are more beneficial than eating out. Eating out tends to have more processed foods and you only have a general idea of what’s inside. You always have to be careful too on where you decide to eat. Yes places like McDonald’s or Burger King are fast and easy, but you have to be careful too from what you get from there. It’s said that their “chicken” isn’t real. Now whether it’s true or not, the grease from the deep fryer can damage your body as well. Places like Chick-Fil-a or Panera bread have healthier options. For example, they have things like salads, soups, sandwiches, etc. If you’re out buying groceries always check the labels and calorie count. Things like fructose or corn syrup tend to cause major harm to our bodies. Cutting things like that out of our diets can make us more energetic, lose weight, and make us feel a lot better about ourselves. We go more of the nutrients we need by eating home cooked meals. Our bodies can’t handle processed constantly. It’s too much. Most people don’t recognize that. It harms our children and their development too. With all the fast food out there children are starting puberty as early as age 10. The chemicals we expose them to, also can harm their brain development. Eating fast food naturally makes us lazier. Whereas if you gravitate towards making our own meals it will give us the energy we need. I’ve noticed since eating a lot healthier and better I’m more awake and energized. I’m able to go through the day and not think much of it. Home cook meals should always be a priority to our bodies than fast food.

Body Positive: The Impact of Surrounding Yourself with those who Love you

Surrounding yourself with people who truly value your time, energy, effort, opinion, and your overall existence, are the one who you should invest your own time and energy into. These are the people who are always going to have your back, to stick up for you, and support you no matter what happens. Also, they will always try to cheer you up during bad times. For example, when I went through an awful breakup, I had a lot of family and friend support from numerous of people. I felt loved and not alone, especially during a period of time where I didn’t know who I was because I felt very low at the time this occurred. When we make a big life decision that can make a significant change in everyday lifestyle, they will support you. For example, some medical procedure that’s becoming more common is gastric bypass surgery. Although from a medical stand point it isn’t ideal to get a surgery done like that because you have a high chance of relapsing because you’ll experience many food withdrawals. This surgery would work extremely well if you have family and friends all on board. If you’re someone doing it by yourself, you’ll have a chance of falling back to the bad habits. Also, if you have a partner, make sure they’re on board and will support you, even if you’re trying to convince them to give you the food you don’t need. They need a strong will just as much as you do. Deciding on what college to go to after high school can really determine what kind of future you want for yourself and your family. Some advice is, don’t make a decision if you feel pressured by other people. You will only make yourself unhappy. Yes, take what they say into account especially if it’s family and friends who do want the best for you and you know it in your heart. Sometimes, they are right. However, it’s your life. You’re the one in control of it. Not them, but you. If they don’t always agree with you, they will come around to your ideas and beliefs. Sometimes explaining it into detail or in a way to get them to understand, will help them ease their own way onto getting on board. Also, you’ll be over all more happy because they are the people who do want the best for you. Whenever I go home to spend time with family or friends, I am overall more happy and I have so much fun. We laugh, cry, have heart to hearts, and even argue, but that’s what life is all about. The good times and bad, however it’s up to you to determine what kind of future you want. Those people who may come from broken families, want a family themselves but surround them with love and support that they may have missed out on growing up, especially for a single parent environment. If you’re someone who raised their younger sibling, good for you! To step up and be there for your family is amazing and exciting. You’ve provided them a safe environment where they can always constantly come back to you. You have a bond with family especially because they’ve been there since the moment you came out of your mothers womb. Since I don’t live at home for most of the year now, I consider being around my boyfriend a safe environment. Him and his family has welcomed me with opens arms and they already consider me family. It’s the best feeling knowing if I’m going through something I always have him to be there for me. It’s like my best friend also. She has been there for me since the moment I got raped. She’s the only person who really understands me besides family. I know she will always be there for me and try her best to show love and support. Being around people who love you will help yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally. Do what’s best for you. Make yourself happy. It has an impact on being happy with yourself because it is your life. It is your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Sometimes even a loss of a family member can take a huge turn on emotions. For example, I lost my grandfather at the age of 4. I still have moment where I’m sensitive to talk about him because he was my best friend before dying. My family and friends are there for me during those emotional breakdowns. Instead of not eating or getting depressed, I feel like it’s a weight lifted off my chest and I’m supported by them. I’m more active instead of lazy and unmotivated. This helps my health.

Body Positivity: Self Worth/Value

To know what you deserve in the world can really push your own individual boundaries which leads to many different possibilities. To find your identity and where you fit into society and your purpose can really show people that you’re not afraid anymore. We all live in fear in our own ways. Even the bravest of people of something they’re afraid of. For myself. It’s taken me many trials and errors to really understand where I belong in society and what I deserve in someone. It’s a life journey that can take someone years, months, or even days to find out. It falls back to where you need to self reflect on yourself. What makes me happy? What are my hobbies? What are my quirks? What makes me stand out? What makes me unique and different? Then, when you’re trying to find your special someone, take time to figure out what you want in someone. Don’t settle for someone less than what you have in mind as your perfect person. Every date you go on or even relationship you’ve been in, will bring you closer to finding out what you really deserve and want in your life. For myself, I haven’t been in a relationship for about 9 months. It’s taken me a while to figure out what I deserve. I’ve gone on many dates and learned something new about myself each time and about what I want in someone. It’s lead to finding my best friend. Through many different outcomes and battles that I personally had to face, it’s lead me to what I deserve in my life. I couldn’t ask for anything better. Also, as a student, it’s taken me about a year to really figure out what I wanted to do with my life. With different classes, it’s lead me to realize what my strengths and weaknesses are. I’ve decided on becoming a child psychologist because I have a natural gift for kids and I love helping kids of all kinds. To have the strive and passion for something as this, can really impact other individuals. It’s my purpose. I know my self worth and value because of all the trials and battles I’ve had to face. To realize that we can all reflect on our own unique lives and learn from them, think to yourself, what do I deserve? What makes me happy? What do I deserve? Knowing your place, push yourself to get there. It’s just the start of an ever ending battle. We all have our own inner demons we battle. Our doubts and self confidence deflated especially after something bad happens like losing your job. Something like that will hit you hard and life changing, but it’s not the end of the world. Things will always get better it’s just the way life is. We all have our ups and downs. It’s a matter of knowing our self worth and value and find your place in the world. It will make you feel wanted and valued. To have that appreciation will really make your entire attitude happier and more positive. Sometimes-knowing your self worth and value can lead to more things happening and occurring in your life. For example, it can lead you to your skin glowing, being over all more happy and up beat, and better for your health. Every action has a consequence whether it’s good or bad.
